Alcoholism Stages
An individual passes through several phases prior to the last stage of addiction or dependence. The four stages of alcoholism are pre-alcoholic, prodomal, crucial and chronic. The first or the pre-alcoholic stage is the use of alcohol without any negative consequences. There is no preoccupation with drinking and the drinker has control over the amount of alcohol consumed and rarely drinks to the point of intoxication.

Alcohol Abuse in the Army
Alcohol abuse has reached an all time high in the US military. For almost twenty years now, the army has been unable to lower the figures of military personnel who are alcohol abusive drinkers. Residential Alcohol Abuse Programs
Alcohol abuse is the excessive consumption of alcohol disregarding the detrimental consequences on the mind and body. If a person regularly consumes alcohol to get mental relief, then he is an alcohol abusive drinker and not an alcohol addict. While it is possible to convince an abusive drinker of his detrimental condition and impel him to go in for treatment, the same can be a tough job as far as an addict is concerned. One of the primary causes of alcohol abuse is stress, which can be of two types- developmental and situational. Complete cure of an abusive drinker is possible, provided it is identified and treated at an early stage.

Alcohol Abuse Interventions
An intervention takes place only when all attempts to send the person suffering from alcohol abuse to a rehab center have failed and he is unwilling to come to terms with his condition. The process starts with a simple phone call by a family member or friend of the sufferer to a phone consultant, employed by an intervention center.

If addiction goes untreated, the person will be unable to control unhealthy and self-defeating behaviors despite the physical and mental risks. Those who suffer from addiction - whether to alcohol, drugs, or other obsessive behaviors like gambling - stand to damage their health, relationships with family and friends, careers and finances if nothing to done to help.
